I’ve been an insurance agent in NYS since 10/14/1992. A lot has changed in that period of time. Community rating, networks, capitation and The Affordable Care Act to mention a few.
In my opinion, nothing has done more harm than managed care and fee-for-service. Patients and doctors interacted before managed care.
In the past 25+ years of managed care, the only ones that have benefitted are the middle men. Those that process the transactions and touch the money.
Doctors and patients are worse off. Insurance carriers provide no value other than processing claims and waiving an artificial wand of savings!
